2018 Wish List

2018 Wish List

This is going to be a hard post to write.

Limiting my Wish List for 2018 to just five books!? Let’s see if I can do this and be content with the results.

There are a lot of great books coming out in 2018–many sequels, many new series, and many stand-alone books. Here are just a few that I am looking forward to! (They aren’t in any particular order.)

Obsidio (The Illuminae Files #3) by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

Obsidio is the third and final (I believe...) installment of The Illuminae Files series. This series is unlike anything I've ever read before! Jam-packed with Sci-Fi-ish craziness, snarky characters, and such an engaging format, I haven't met one person who hasn't enjoyed at least the experience of these books.

Now, there are few draw-backs to this series--I disliked how much cursing (even though they were blocked out in the text) there was, and sometimes overall crudeness. For someone who appreciates a little more class, this didn't hit the mark for me. But I LOVED the concepts and overall imagination behind this ongoing plot!

Shadowsong (Wintersong #2) by S. Jae-Jones

Now, I absolutely loved Wintersong. It's a retelling of The Goblin Market poem with a combination of Labyrinth. An obvious romance, the tale follows Liesl, a nearly adult woman, who has some encounters throughout her life with the Goblin King. When her sister is taken away to the world of goblins, Liesl must follow her and rescue her. Naturally, this mysterious tale turns into a romance.

Shadowsong continues six months after Liesl was able to return back home. Yet, the realm of the goblins is ever nearer. If you are a fan of paranormal romances, this may be a read for you.

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik

This may be preemptive on my end, because I have yet to read Uprooted by this author...but I REALLY think I will love it. Some of my close friends with similar reading tastes have read it and can't stop talking about it, so I think it's safe to assume I'll be the same.

Anyways, although this isn't a part of any series, I trust it will be something magical and fantastic.

A Rumpelstiltskin retelling, it follows the main character Miryem, the daughter of a moneylender, who finds out that she can change silver into gold.

The Oracle QUeen and the third installment to the Three Dark Crowns series by Kendare Blake

I'm grouping these two books into one because one is a short novella. The third book in the Three Dark Crowns series has yet to be titled and given a cover. So...there isn't much I can say on it, other than I want it now!

The Oracle Queen is a short novella telling about the tale of the mad Oracle Queen, and basically why they decided to drown any of them that were born to keep one from regaining the throne. I'm guessing there are some major conspiracies going on here.

Brightly Burning by Alexa Donne

Now guys. I'm nervous, yet so excited about this one. Can I just yell here a moment that this is a JANE EYRE RETELLING!?

I'm impressed someone would take on such a retelling...in outer space...

Golly, I hope this will be good.

There they are! What are you most looking forward to coming out in 2018? Let me know in the comments below!

Stay tuned for next week's Top 5 Wednesday post!
